The Crawdaddies

Biography: A band founded in 1995 on the premise of “why not, it might just work,” The Crawdaddies infuse Cajun, Zydeco, Funk, Swing, Soul, Reggae, Roots and Rock into an incomparable, groove-laden sound that is unquestionably its own. The Crawdaddies are, Kraig Greff, accordion; Chris Huntington, guitar, vocals; Rick Oleguer vocals, acoustic guitar and washboard; Tim Steele, drums, vocals; Darryl Matarozza, bass, vocals. Each road-seasoned member hosts an impressive and diverse musical/performance resume, most notably, Greff who toured with Barry White, Della Reese, Joe Williams and Diana Ross. Consummate headliners, the eclectic, good-time spirit of their set has also allowed The Crawdaddies to share the stage with a wide range of artists including: Etta James, Charlie Daniels, Buddy Guy, The Radiators, Jimmy Cliff, C. J. Chenier, John Eddie, Joan Jett, Rosie Ladet, The Spinners, Gino Delefose, Johnny Klegg, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Terrance Simien, G. E. Smith, Marcia Ball, The Young Dubliners, Buckwheat Zydeco and Reel Big Fish. The band continues to tour the USA, is a regular fixture on the national college and festival circuits and has earned a strong grass roots following. In 2005 The Crawdaddies had a great live performance recorded when at the WC Handy Blues Festival in Henderson, KY and it is currently being played on the Kentucky Public Television music program "Jubilee." "Jubilee" is being picked up by much of the PBS market and this Crawdaddies performance is now being seen nationally. The band has been selected for mainstage showcases at the prestigious National Association of Campus Activities National Conference in Nashville, TN and three regional N.A.C.A. conferences: Mid-America, New England, and the Mid-Atlantic. The Crawdaddies’ CDs, Accordions Are Cool, Spice it Up and EP-More Happy Songs for Hard Times are in rotation on college and broad-format radio stations nationwide and currently are receiving regular airplay in Holland, Belgium and The Netherlands. The band is currently in the studio recording the next full length CD to be released in May 2006.
